THE FARM

Built in 1860

On this 3.0 hectare farm, also known as a “town-farm”, you will find not only vineyards and an olive grove, you will find bio-diversity in a truly integrated and relaxed atmosphere.

The farm practices organic farming solutions, and we have our own compost system, and source organic fertilisers from neighbouring farmers.  The farm’s pastures are often utilised by neighbours, and several lucerne patches produce natural mulch.

Nothing is wasted on a farm like this, and we encourage you to help us recycle as much as possible.

This farm is privileged to part of the Montagu Leiwater system as well as the Cogmanskloof Besproeiings Raad (CBR)

The Chardonnay Vineyard

Our 1.0 hectare Chardonnay vineyard produces about 6 tons of grapes per season.  We have decided to venture into new territory and will be producing our own wine in collaboration with some talented winemakers – with a cheeky wine label!

The Olive Grove

Our 2.0-hectare olive grove consists of 400+ olive trees. Most of them are Mission olives, which are suitable for olive oil and table olives

The Fruit Orchard

We have 75 fruit trees on Klein Nektar, giving us a wide variety of fruit throughout the year. In summer we look forward to peaches, plums, pears, figs, and nectarines. In winter we enjoy the citrus fruit, including freshly squeezed orange juice, grapefruit, and lemons. Two massive Pecan nut trees and two Almond trees provide us with healthy nuts all year round.

The Herb & Vegetable Garden

Our garden is seasonal and depends on the season and the climate. We grow sweet baby tomatoes, spinach, beetroot, carrots, broccoli, spring onion, radishes, capsicums, lettuce, garlic and many more.

You just can't beat eating what you have grown in your own garden.
