Why stay with us

Montagu was founded in 1851 on the farm Uitflucht.  The first properties, which were sold along Long Street, became small “town farms” and today The Klein Nektar Wine & Olive Estate is one of the most picturesque of these town farms.

Built in 1860, this beautiful town farm Cape Dutch dwelling was one of two heritage houses with a cellar forming an integral part of the main house.  The property forms part of an important historical and architectural heritage of Montagu.

The property developed as the Klein Nektar Farm Cottages and Klein Nektar Luxury Manor Suites. The Manor has been recently refurbished and we expanded our offering to also include a Luxury Self-Catering option.

Situated along the very popular Route 62 which links two main cities namely Cape Town and Port Elizabeth has made this 3-hectare town farm dwelling surrounded by the majestic Langeberge a favourite amongst many foreign and local visitors.

Look up at the rugged peaks and hear the cry of the resident Fish Eagles as they fly along the Kinga river or enjoy the frequent visits by Hadedas and Guinee Fowls.  Amble through the chardonnay vineyard, fruit orchard & olive grove and see if you can spot the endangered Riverine Rabbit hidden in the grass.

Choose between visiting the Montagu hot mineral springs, the many excellent wineries or indulge your cultural side with visits to museums and tribal art.  For the adrenaline junkies, there is bolted rock climbing and mountain biking.  For peace and total relaxation throughout the year, a visit to The Nature Garden founded in 1954 is a must.

The Estate is within easy walking distance from restaurants and shops.

Take a deep breath and take it all in…
